Jeffrey L. Friedberg (Friedberg Investment Management) was raised in a small coal-mining town in eastern Pennsylvania. He graduated first in his high school class, earned Dean’s List while at MIT and was awarded a graduate Fellowship at Caltech. Although his degrees were in Geology and Geophysics, Friedberg became actively involved in the stock market while pursuing a rewarding career in Geophysics. In 1979, Friedberg decided to become registered and licensed as an Investment Advisor in order to invest other people’s money as he was investing his own. He thus founded FIM, in effect transforming an enjoyable sideline into a successful business endeavor.

Topic: “Market Outlook for 2016”

Jeff Friedberg has agreed to be our speaker at the May 14th main session. He will make a few comments about the market and the lead a discussion. Members should come prepared to ask questions and participate in the discussion.
Jeff was raised in a small coal mining town in eastern Pennsylvania. With a strong interest in science, Jeff finished first in his high school class, earned a BS in Geology at MIT and a Masters in Geophysics at Caltech. His career in exploration geophysics took him to Houston, when by 1979, he was managing 30+ employees at Western Geophysical Co. His interest in investing began in graduate school (when he actually took two courses on investing) and increased over time as he successfully invested his own money. The decision to establish a means to invest other people’s money was made in 1978, and the requisite licenses and registration were obtained in 1979.
