The monthly meeting of the Houston Investors Association will take place Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Melcher Hall, on University of Houston Campus 4800 Calhoun Rd, Houston, TX. (See Location).

The December meeting will be on the 3rd Saturday, not the 2nd!!!
Featured Speaker: HIA Annual Roundtable

The roundtable participants will discus the state of the economy and the financial markets, and give their views of where we are headed. Questions from the audience are encouraged.

Stock Market SIG: Al Robison will lead a discussion of the current state of the market. Here’s Al’s comment for December 19th:
" Whether the market will be in an uptrend or downtrend by then is still far from clear. Cash still looks good to me right now, but if you have some better ideas, please bring them with you. There are some high-yield stocks that have been doing well recently, and I’ll have some of them to share with you."
Derivatives / Advanced Options SIG: Jim McWilliams will discuss the most common mistakes in trading options. The Group will be working on a trading plan.
Trading 101 SIG: Speaker will be John Godell. His topic will be “Analysis Big Picture – Update”and Bill Williams’ Wise Man trades #1,2,3.

Getting Started SIG (Leigh Anderson): We will look in depth at two valuable sources of information for the beginning (and advanced) investor: Morningstar “premium” services and the American Association of Independent Investors.
Mutual Fund SIG: Speaker: Jimmy Hixson whose topic will be “Economic Outlook for 2010.”
Fixed Income SIG: Eric Brown, Account Executive with Tri-Star Financial, will be standing in for John Bott. Eric’s topic will be “Life Insurance – The Good, The Bad and the Ugly.”
